***Please note that the registration will ask you to input your name and email twice before registration is considered successful*** We are excited to announce PeaceTrees is continuing its Common Read. During this program, the PeaceTrees community and beyond is invited to read a selected book related to the organization’s mission. We aim to foster mutual understanding and continuous dialogue about the many perspectives and ongoing legacies of the US-Vietnam War. Last year, we featured the novel, The Manicurist's Daughter by Susan Liễu who highlighted the experiences of refugees and second-generation Vietnamese Americans. This year, the featured novel is Inheriting the War: Poetry and Prose by Descendants of Vietnam Veterans and Refugees. Please join us for an in-person local citizen diplomacy event moderated by Thanh Tân in Seattle at the Little Saigon Creative on Tuesday, June 24 2025. Come hear from individuals of various backgrounds who have been impacted by the war share their stories and read passages from the book. From the point of views of Vietnamese refugees, second-generation folks, veterans, and peace activists, the evening will highlight the intergenerational ongoing effects of the war to foster mutual understanding and healing on all sides. Not able to join in-person? We intend on offering a virtual conversation on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5:30pm-6:30pm PST.
